Michelle Sherbun, ACC, CEC, AELC, is President of Merlin Solutions, LLC, a nonprofit management and leadership development firm dedicated to helping clients define and achieve success. Ms. Sherbun, a graduate of Indiana University and a certified leadership coach, has been empowering individuals and nonprofit organizations to reach their peak potential for nearly 30 years. By creating work cultures that positively impact all levels of the organization, managers become leaders who value self-sufficiency and sustainability, awareness and accountability, growth and profit, inspiration and innovation, and mutual success.

Her firm serves as a thought partner, working with clients in executive nonprofit management, working with change, fund development, visioning and strategic planning, and board leadership development. As a consultant and coach, Ms. Sherbun believes that each and every challenge presents organizations with unprecedented opportunities to transform. By tapping into the strengths that drive best efforts, clients inspire and motivate themselves and others to move towards success in the most mindful, productive, and constructive manner.

Ms. Sherbun has done extensive work in the fields of healthcare where she directed the Genetics and Aging initiative for the Indiana University School of Medicine’s $130 million capital campaign and served as the Chief Development Officer for Riley Hospital for Children – one of the top five children’s hospitals in the country; amateur sports as the Executive Director of the National Gymnastics Foundation of USAGymnastics; association management where she conducted annual and major gift fundraising programs, as well as the small law firm marketing initiative for the American Bar Association; education where she served as in-house counsel for the Hadley School for the Blind; and social services where she served as Executive Director, chief development officer, and public relations and marketing director for grassroots organizations in the Chicago and the Midwest. She brings special competencies in marketing, business planning, and entrepreneurial enterprises.


Ms. Sherbun has helped dozens of not-for-profit leaders surpass fundraising goals, overcome management challenges, and achieve personal and professional ambitions. She continues to study in the area of business development and creative solutions, and introduces techniques that assist clients in finding innovative options to organizational challenges. She is an accomplished writer and speaker on topics related to personal and professional development, fundraising, and board leadership.

Ms. Sherbun is President-Elect of the Chicago Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, a member of the International Coaching Federation and its Chicago Chapter, as well as the West Suburban Philanthropic Network and the Association of Consultants to Nonprofits.
