On 2008 I had a selective amputation of my right leg. My left one was taken as a result of a fall from a fifth floor 22 years ago while in college. The selective amputation came as a blessing since I was living all those years in the most excruciating pain imaginable. Once I had the amputation done I knew I needed to do something to help my psyche overcome all those years and prepare me for a new life. Researching for a picture to show my friends on the internet I found a person that has lost both his legs and was sky diving and was a life coach. I started researching coaching because my curiosity was stirred. I knew I wanted to redesign my perspectives. Then looking on the net is when I found iPEC. Their principle “Raising consciousness one person at a time” resonated with me. I had my consciousness raised on some level as a result of losing the leg pain and I thirsted for more. That is how over the year after the amputation and since I became a coach, first and foremost to coach myself into a new life and have the tools to go even further. My perspective is ever-changing since. Every day is a new adventure full of possibilities. I look at the opportunity to make each day mine as a double amputee. I was not prepared for the inspiration that my approach to be legless generates in others. Is fun to see the faces turning in disbelief at my smiling face and my seemingly effortless walk. Everyday doesn’t feel like I am climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to the contrary is a very peaceful and mostly joyous ride through life. Any questions you can contact me at migueljosecriado@yahoo.com |
